United’s recent draw with Liverpool was a game so boring, so bereft of attacking prowess, it almost caused the Premier League to be abolished. This weekend’s trip to Stamford Bridge will see Jose Mourinho return to Chelsea for the first time since he was sacked by them during their disastrous campaign last season.
With a recent 4-1 drubbing of the mighty Fenerbahce under his belt, the Overly Cautious One may be willing to take the shackles of his side and allow United’s forwards to do what they do best- attack.
The fact Mourinho will be against the club that fired him, the owner who appointed Avram Grant over him the first time round, before sacking him just months after he’d won the title the second time round, may just give the Portuguese man a reason to go all out and really try to put his former employee in his place.
With Mourinho knowing the Chelsea squad better than almost anyone, there’s every reason to be believe he could unpick the lock to the Pensioners’ defence.
Here’s how United could line up:
[4-3-3] David De Gea, Tony Valencia, Eric Bailly, Chris Smalling, Daley Blind, Ander Herrera, Marouane Fellaini, Paul Pogba, Juan Mata, Marcus Rashford, Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
