Manchester United secured a key win on the weekend as they downed West Bromwich Albion 2-1 at the Hawthorns.
Goals from Romelu Lukaku and Jesse Lingard sealed the three points for the Red Devils, in a result that saw them trim the deficit to City back down to 11 points.
There is no denying that Jose Mourinho’s side made hard work of the contest, with Gareth Barry’s goal 13 minutes from time forcing the latter stages of the match to be more nervy than United needed.
United are a long way from the Premier League trophy, and with the World Cup just round the corner, there are players that Mourinho needs to keep tabs on ahead of the summer transfer window.
Here are FOUR players that Manchester United need to be keeping tabs on in the 2018 World Cup in Russia….
Antoine Griezmann
The Atletico Madrid star is one of the most coveted talents in world football, and Mourinho simply needs to weigh up a move for the Frenchman.
He was Mourinho’s top summer target and he was seemingly keen on a move to Old Trafford, after not ruling out a switch on French TV in the summer.
Griezmann’s side France will be hot favourites to win the World Cup with most bookmakers, and they’d be a decent bet to win the tournament.
Griezmann could also be in contention to win the golden boot for the competition, so it may be worth doing some World Cup betting, coming up next June.
Thomas Lemar
The Monaco ace is one of the most sought-after players at the moment, and it seems that nearly every elite top-flight club has been linked with a move.
In the past, Mourinho has said he’d like to sign a player that can allow United to play with three at the back and with a wing-back.
Lemar would be ideal – And his relationship with Paul Pogba could be brilliant on the pitch for United.
Go for it Mourinho!
Ivan Perisic
The Croatian was a top target for Mourinho in the summer, but a deal failed to materialise with him staying put at Serie A side Inter Milan.
Perisic would bring that versatility and guile to United’s wide areas, and he could prove to be the perfect foil for Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford.
Mourinho made it so evident that he wanted to seal a deal for the Inter star, and he should undoubtedly make a move for the talent again next summer.
Danny Rose
The left-back is definitely on the way out at Tottenham Hotspur, and Manchester United need to capitalise.
Rose is likely to feature for England at the World Cup next summer, and Mourinho should keep tabs on the defender during the tournament.
The Red Devils need a world-class left-back and Rose could be perfect.
You get the feeling Old Trafford would be the perfect place for him to develop and mature as a footballer.
