The news many Manchester United fans are dreading could become a reality with reports Cristiano Ronaldo is on the verge of a move to Manchester City.

According to Sky Sports :

Manchester City have been offered the chance to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus.

Ronaldo is out of contract next summer and Juventus want to sell him to save on the £500,000 a week wages they pay him plus tax.

Ronaldo is willing to leave and his agent Jorge Mendes has been looking for a club who are willing to pay a £25m transfer fee for the 36-year-old and take on his wages.

The report goes on to note that City only want Ronaldo on a free transfer while Juventus want Gabriel Jesus to be part of the deal.

The move would be a massive blow to many United fans who still regard Ronaldo as one of the club’s legends. It remains to be seen if Pep Guardiola would be willing to sanction a deal for the Portuguese captain with some newspapers reporting that the City boss isn’t overly keen on the transfer.

The next few days could be a testing time for United fans and there’s no doubt the noisy neighbours would be more vocal than over if they were to sign a player who won three Premier League titles and a Champions League at Old Trafford.

It’s far from certain where Ronaldo’s future lies, but if City do decide to pay the money for him they should have a clear run with no other clubs expressing interest in signing the 36 year-old.
