Manchester United look set to sign France international midfielder Adrien Rabiot from Juventus in a £15 million deal according to the latest reports.
The 27 year-old has one year left on his current deal and would be available for a relatively low price as ‘the Old Lady’ look to cash in on him before next summer.
Rabiot played 45 times in all competitions last season for Juventus, but with the arrival of Paul Pogba he could eventually find himself featuring less, once the former United man returns to full fitness.
There are question marks over Rabiot’s temperament with a reputation for being difficult and causing problems, particularly at his previous club PSG, during his time at Turin however it seems most of his talking has been done on the pitch.
The Mail notes:
He joined the Italian club in 2019 on a free transfer following seven years with Paris Saint-Germain, after Rabiot, in conjunction with his mother and agent Veronique, decided his future was in better hands away from Paris.
But Rabiot struggled to live up to the early promise he showed at Juventus and his time in Turin has coincided with the club’s monopoly on the Serie A title ending.
Ironically, midfielder Paul Pogba has just left Old Trafford to return to Juventus after failing to scale the heights in the Premier League.
United will acquire a talented midfielder but one who has a reputation within the game for being a tricky customer within dressing rooms.
Erik ten Hag is reported to be keen to add midfielders to United’s squad, especially after the Reds opening day defeat to Brighton and after losing the likes of Pogba, Nemanja Matic and Jesse Lingard this summer.
