After a dodgy start, where Fulham took the lead through Damien Duff, the Reds got their act together with some wonderful football. RVP’s equaliser was the pick of the three United goals, an excellent finish which should leave the rest of the Premier League very, very worried. Kagawa bagged the second and Rafael scored a rare headed goal.

  1. Jonny says:

Ferguson summed it up perfectly when he said we saw two sides of Man Utd. There was the terrific football in the first half and to be honest some of the best football I’ve seen us play for a long time. The reason for this in my opinion was because of Tom Cleverley and Shinji Kagawa. Those two linked up really well and brought really nice fluid passing to our game again.

At the same time we saw the complacent and careless side of our football as well. The first goal was slack defending, but the second goal was even worse. De Gea will have to take the blame for that one, although he made some great saves as well. The problem is that we went from dominating and playing great football, to suddenly struggling and holding onto the win. We need to get that killer instinct back and try and score 4-5-6 goals. We have to attacking quality to do this now. We can’t get comfortable and just settle.

I mentioned Cleverley and Kagawa, but Valencia was better today back in midfield. We also saw good attacking performances from Rafeal and Evra. Rafeal is stronger going forward but he needs to improve defensively. Evra has his best game for a while and its no fluke that it comes as we sign real competition for him this week. He needed a kick and a challenge and hopefully his performances will rise.

The new man van Persie scored a cracking goal today and that is what we paid for. I hope there is another 25-30 of them this season. I don’t mean cracking goals, just goals, however they arrive. Rooney was on the bench today but I don’t read anything into it. It was a little kick to tell him that even he is guaranteed a place any more and has to perform when selected. He didn’t play well at all against Everton and was on the bench. I see him playing in Young role this season and attacking from the left side. He has great work ethic and unselfishness to his game, which is why the role can work for him.

Fulham deserve praise for getting back into the game, and the man behind that was Moussa Dembele. He was terrific today in midfield and was probably the second best player, after Kagawa, on the pitch today. He was fantastic I thought and showed why Ferguson needs to get him signed up. He was truly box to box. His attacking play, dribbling and passing was very good. However his defensive work and tackling was really impressive. He would be perfect alongside Cleverley and playing behind Kagawa. Please Ferguson sign Moussa Dembele this week, he is definitely worth £15 million.
