Almost...

Almost…

United’s former manager David Moyes will come face to face with the player that could’ve saved his Old Trafford career when Real Sociedad face Real Madrid tomorrow.

The Red’s former manager claims that during his time at United he launched a £100 million bid for Gareth Bale – while the winger was still at Spurs. The former Southampton star opted for Madrid rather than Manchester and the rest as they say is history, the big question is would Bale have saved Moyes if he’d chosen Old Trafford? It’s a question we’ll never know the answer to but a match winner like Bale was desperately needed during those dark times and there’s little doubt he would’ve been enough to at least move the Reds into the top four, which may have made the board give the ‘Chosen One’ at least one more season.

Moyes may be a little bitter when he sees how much Louis Van Gaal had to spend and how he failed to attract any top targets- other than perhaps Juan Mata. It’s time to move on for all concerned but forgive me for feeling a tad sorry for Moyes that he didn’t land one of the few players in the world who could’ve saved his United career.
