"Do you want the 40?"

“Do you want the 40?”

Manchester United are ready to spend around a quarter of a billion pounds on bringing Neymar to Old Trafford according to the latest reports.

The Reds hierarchy hasn’t been dissuaded by the Brazilian’s £130 million buy-out clause or the £100 million plus in fees and wages it would cost to make Neymar the most expensive signing in football history.

The Sun notes: Manchester United will press on with a £240 million pursuit of Brazilian superstar Neymar and want him to be the global face of the club.

The chances of Neymar leaving the Catalan giants seems slim and to many the Reds pursuit of him is an exercise in futility destined to leave United looking a bit silly. With Adidas pumping hundreds of millions into the club not to mention Chevrolet, it’s believed that a ‘star’ name is needed to carry the United banner, particularly with Wayne Rooney’s luster dimming somewhat and question marks surrounding just how long Louis Van Gaal can persist with him leading the line- and the team.

It would be a huge shock if United landed Neymar, but with so much money to spend and everyone having their price, just maybe a deal could be made- if not this Summer, then the next.
