Manchester United’s “ressies” took Bury’s second string to the cleaners in the sort of display that makes you almost feel sorry for the opposition.

A Gabriel Obertan hat-trick, two goals from Joshua King and goals from Robert Brady, Fabio Da Silva and Marnick Vermijl saw off The Shakers, in a behind closed doors game at Carrington which saw United through to the Senior Cup Final.

With the likes of Paul Scholes,  Wes Brown , Darron Gibson and John O’Shea in the starting line-up not to mention new signing Anders Lindegaard, it was no surprise Bury were put to the sword.

With Rafael suspended for at least one game and facing a further possible suspension due to being charged with improper conduct by the Shed Enders, sorry I mean the FA then it will be interesting to see whether O’Shea, The Hardest Man in all the Town or Fabio are chosen to deputise or whether Sir Alex just takes the easy option and puts Rafael in Fabio’s shirt.
