United’s Shinji Kagawa produced a stunning display as Japan beat Latvia 3-0 in a friendly today. Forward Shinji Okazaki scored twice with Keisuke Honda grabbing the other goal in an easy win for the Japanese at the Noevir Stadium.

Kagawa showed some quality passes setting up two goals in two minutes and more importantly for United fans lasted the full 90 minutes looking lively and fresh throughout.

With Phil Jones out for a month and Michael Carrick carrying a slight knock, Kagawa staying fit and sharp could be essential over the next few games starting with Everton at home this Sunday.

So far the former Borussia Dortmund midfielder has shown what he can do in spells rather than for full games but more recently seems to be getting used to the pace of the Premier League. Kagawa could prove vital in the games against Madrid and if he plays like he did against Latvia- admittedly a much easier opponent- then he could be the difference.
