Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio has been reported as a target for United in certain sections of the press as far back as the end of last season. The Italian international formed an effective midfield triumvirate with Arturo Vidal and Andrea Pirlo as the Old Lady stormed to yet another Scudetto.
Marchisio has been at Juventus his entire career and reiterated his desire to stay at the club, but dropped a big enough hint that a move could be possible.
Speaking to Gazzetto dello Sport Marchisio noted:
“My dream is to still end my career with Juventus,”
“Even if I know that in football, you never know.”
“Every summer the possibility that I might go away is always talked about,”
“I’m certainly glad that big European clubs are linked to my name.”
The “you never know” line has shades of a certain Cristiano Ronaldo when he was considering a move to Madrid, so forgive me if I don’t completely buy the idea that Marchisio wants to end his career in Turin.
