Is the striker worth it?

United are set to offer a new four year worth a staggering £52 million according to the latest reports.

The powers that be at Trafford are keen to tie to United for the rest of his career and aren’t afraid to spend the cash to do so. Since David Moyes took over as United boss Rooney has enjoyed something of a renaissance which has seen his stock rise with many who were disillusioned with his antics during the Summer when it appeared he could be on his way to Stamford Bridge.

The got behind and may have influenced his decision to stay at the club, as could his relationship with Moyes which seems to be a lot stronger than the one he had with Sir Alex Ferguson. Rooney’s current expires Summer 2015 and United are keen to avoid letting him walk away from the club without a fight.

Whether Rooney- who’s on course to become the club’s all-time goalscorer- will want to end his career at United remains to be seen. Watch this space…..
