United are moving a step closer to signing Paris Saint Germain centre back Marquinhos for a fee of around 30 million Euros according to reports in the French media.
At 20 years-old Marquinhos isn’t quite the experienced defender many believe United need to solve their current problems but there’s little doubting the former Corinthians star’s talents.
30 million Euros is less than the fee PSG paid for the youngster but a deal could be made as he’s struggled to find games when both FIFA team of the year defenders David Luiz and Thiago Silva are fit.
One problem in a potential deal is the worrying form of Silva which despite his recent award has been patchy at best, this could convince Laurent Blanc to keep his young Brazilian as a much needed alternative.
Louis Van Gaal needs to act sooner rather than later in the transfer window to address United’s defensive problems, the question is will he be able to tempt PSG to part with a centre back they may just need?
