The Ajax man could be on his way to Old Trafford.
With David De Gea almost certain to leave United before the transfer window Louis Van Gaal has targeted a replacement from one of his former clubs according to reports.
Despite Sergio Romero’s promising debut for the Reds against Spurs LVG still needs a goalkeeper – arguably one that’s a number one as the Argentinean is still considered more of a back up by most fans.
The Mirror notes: Ajax boss Frank de Boer has warned Manchester United that the asking price for keeper Jasper Cillessen is going up by the week.
….United are plotting a £25million swoop for Cillessen if their Spanish No 1 David De Gea gets his wish to join Real Madrid.
United have told Madrid they want £35m for De Gea – resulting in a stand-off that has left Cillessen and his Dutch club in limbo.
United cannot afford to be left in a situation where De Gea leaves and the club end up spending almost all the money they received on a player not quite in the same class, but if the price doesn’t go up too much then Cillessen for around the £25 million mark could be a good deal for all concerned.
