The one shining light at WHL.

There can be little to cheer about for United fans following the Reds 3-0 defeat to Spurs at White Hart Lane this afternoon. For the final 20 minutes Louis Van Gaal’s side were nothing short of shambolic as the home side ran rampant, bagging three goals in a six minute spell which could have been much worse were it not for David De Gea’s heroics.

The United manager’s decision to replace Marcus Rashford with Ashley Young as striker had social media awash with incredulity at such a seemingly ridiculous decision.

One shining light in a sea of drivel was the Dutch teenager Timothy Fosu-Mensah who was a rock throughout the 60 0dd minutes he was on the pitch for. In fact it’s safe to say the young right back’s substitution due to injury led to United’s downfall as Spurs bagged three quick goals- all coming from the side he’d been marshalling superbly within eight minutes of him leaving the field.

There’s not much to cheer about for United following such a demoralising defeat that leaves the Reds six points off the Champions League places, but Fosu-Mensah may just be the answer to the troublesome right back position for the Reds.

It’s hard not to get excited by a player who looks as though he could become the best right back not just the club, but the Premier League has to offer.
