Since his arrival at United it seems the Special One could do no wrong as every comment, transfer or decision he made was greeted with adulation by the fans. The signing of Eric Bailly was lauded as a great piece of business while news Michael Carrick has been handed a new one year deal seems to have pleased most -if admittedly not all- fans.
Mourinho’s latest move seems to have upset a lot of fans though, as stories that the manager has told Ashley Young he still has a future at the club have been met with derision on social media. Young has endured a mixed time with many United fans, his early career at Old Trafford was met with a fairly lukewarm response before he became persona non grata under David Moyes. The former Aston Villa man seemed to shine under Louis van Gaal though, playing a pivotal role in the Reds’ return to the Champions League before injury scuppered any chance of a real impact in the last campaign.
Now though it seems the fans are by and large unimpressed with news that Young’s being given a chance under the new boss. It shouldn’t worry winger too much though as we’ve seen in the past, he can bounce back from any criticism aimed his way and surely we have to trust the manager’s judgement- especially when it’s so soon into his tenure.
