As the Manchester United takeover saga rumbles on with conflicting reports as to just who will be the next owners at Old Trafford, it seems one of the front runners has already made plans for a summer transfer spending spree should his bid be successful.

Sheikh Jassim, who along with Sir Jim Ratcliffe is said to be leading the race to take over from the Glazers is looking to give Erik ten Hag a transfer war chest to compete for the top honours.

According to the Mirror the potential United owner will give Ten Hag extra funds to bring in much needed reinforcements and the Red Devils aim to challenge rivals Man City for the Premier League title.

The Mirror notes:

Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani has promised to boost Manchester United ’s summer transfer budget by £50m should he complete a takeover of the club.

The Qatari billionaire has been in the race to become the club’s new owners since the Glazer family announced their intentions to sell in November last year. He faces competition from INEOS owner and the UK’s richest man Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

With the transfer window open and United still not knowing our budget, it’s getting worrying that other clubs are making moves while the Reds are stuck in limbo – despite a recent £40 million bid for Chelsea’s Mason Mount.

All this uncertainty can’t be helpful for Erik ten Hag who’ll look to build on last season’s top 3 finish and Carabao Cup win with a push for major honours, but with several players set to leave United in the summer, it’s obvious new signings are essential if the Reds are to kick on.
