Jack Rodwell signs

Has Rodwell signed a deal at Old Trafford

According to a report in today’s Sun newspaper United have agreed a deal with Everton over midfielder Jack Rodwell.

The Sun reports:

“Alex Ferguson has reached an agreement in principle to sign Everton whizkid Jack Rodwell for £25million.
“As revealed in SunSport, Manchester United made a move to land the Goodison midfielder in January.

“But the Merseysiders asked them to come back in the summer as he was so vital to them for the rest of the season.

“They also told United their initial £15m offer was nowhere near enough.”

With United’s midfield being something of  a problem area this season many Reds would welcome the arrival of Rodwell. Despite Michael Carrick signing a new long-term deal, United have been linked to both Jack Rodwell and Sunderland’s Jordan Henderson for some time now.

Rodwell has allegedly been an Old Trafford target for over a year and many – including the Sun- have speculated that he was the player Sir Alex was referring to when he said United had made a bid for someone in the January transfer window which was rejected.

Rodwell’s one of the hottest English prospects there is and has only recently turned 20, so would only improve and could be the perfect answer to United’s midfield problem.

While the Sun newspaper is hardly the last bastion of journalistic integrity, I’m hoping that they’ve got this one spot on as Rodwell is a player who could fit in well at old Trafford.

  1. Assuming that this is true….£25m? I think that’s a bit like the Scousers wasting £35m on Carroll.

Surely the £25m bracket is for the likes of Scweinsteiger, DeRossi, Sneijder and other proven, top international midfielders with an abundance of Champions League experience.

    Value in the market…?

Yet another player with potential. We need an established central midfielder that’s proven how good he is at the top level, not an everton sub.

British players are bloody overpriced and overrated!

VDV; 8 Million, Mezut Ozil and Samir Khedira 15 Million. All of them established players.

British Hot prospect, 25 Million!? Where’s the value? No wonder Chelsea, City and Arsenal are full of foreign players in their first eleven.

i don’t believe the Sun but if this is true, then i think Ferguson got it wrong because this Rodwell boy is nowhere near £25m

I hope this is made up, I expect it is as the Scum wrote it. Rodwell is not what we need and I do not view him as United quality, I funny it hilarious the fact that Manchester United are the most hated club in football, public enemy #1 and yet this countries scum media expects us to make the every single England squad, past, present and future, its pathetic. I dont want Rodwell, we should be going for Alexis Sanchez and Javier Pastore, not crap being linked to us like Rodwell and Henderson.

I think this should be the Manchester United squad next season: (GK) Kuszczak, Lindegaard, Amos. (DF) Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Rafael, Fabio, Smalling, Evans, O’Shea, Brown, De Laet. (MF) Giggs, Scholes, Nani, Anderson, Fletcher, Park, Carrick, Obertan, Bebe, Gibson, Cleverley, Sanchez, Pastore. (F) Berbatov, Chicharito, Rooney, Welbeck, Macheda, Diouf. (IN/ Sanchez, Pastore – OUT/ Hargreaves, Owen) *** Only buy a GK if Kuszczak does leave, which I hope he doesnt – if he does than we should buy Neuer.

Rodwell is a decent young player who has the potential to be one of the best, however is he what we really need? He’s a bit injury prone although that doesn’t mean that he’s going to end up another Hargreaves, but with Tunnicliffe,Morrison and Pogba plus 1 or 2 others don’t really think we need him. We should sign players who are performing now while still being young and able to get even better like Sanchez and Sahin.

Sanchez or Young?, Pastore or Rodwell? – I know who I would go for – Sanchez and Pastore……every time. We could land Sanchez for €30-35m and Pastore for €40m, seems alot but totally worth it considering how talented they are. Sanchez is the Chilean Ronaldo, an amazingly talented quick young talent capable of playing the wing or off the forward and is getting better every year, he has already spoen of his desire to join Manchester United and we have to sign him and we should all so sign up Pastore.

I have heard good things about Shinji Kagawa and Mario Goetze strikes me as a better option than Rodwell aswell, but like I have said, I want us to sign Alexis Sanchez and Javier Pastore. We have plenty of English talent so I dont think we should buy more all because the anti-United media wants us to build the England squad whiles treating us like crap. Come on Fergie, sign Sanchez and Pastore, they are perfect for Manchester United and will add an extra spark to the squad.

I say just buy Sanchez, Pastore & perhaps a top end keeper. Fuck them English players!. Just look @ tt wanker, Stevie C*nt!. Thru the yrs wz his f*ckdog club & England, he’s been mediocre in his play but gets highly praised all bcoz he’s English!. He’s THE most overrated player in the BPL history!. The media only harps on his 1 or 2 flashes but keep mum when he plays rubbish!. The same cud b said abt Bale, Lennon & Young!. These lads r no better than Wright Philips & Gareth Barry!. Just look at how little England has achieved since winnin’ the WC 1966???!!!.
