Owen Hargreaves celebrates against Arsenal

Ronnie loved Owen's superman impression

According to reports  Owen Hargreaves, Ji-Sung Park and Nani resumed training with United at Carrington today.

The Manchester Evening News website notes:

“Nani handed Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson a boost on Monday morning by returning to training.

“The Portugal winger was not expected to be back until after the international break.

“There was a surprise appearance by Owen Hargreaves, whose career has been blighted by injury.

“He trained away from the main group, as did Park Ji-sung, who has had a hamstring injury.”

Sir Alex Ferguson recently told  the People newspaper thisa about Hargreaves :

“From what we’re told he’s coming back from Germany and he’s going to start training on Monday [Today] with us so we’ll wait and see.

“He’s been a loss but there’s nothing you can do about it. Up until the last couple of weeks we haven’t really needed him.

“We’ve got a big strong squad with plenty of midfield players like Carrick, Anderson, Gibson, Scholes, Fletcher, Giggs who can play in there.”

Most United fans, including myself have all but given up on the prospect of seeing the ‘curly haired one’ ever representing the club again. It’s not that Hargreaves’ isn’t well-liked, there’s a strong case to be made that had he stayed free of injury there could well have been a few more trophies in the Old Trafford trophy cabinet these past two years, but many are simply pessimistic following the  seemingly never ending injury saga.

If Hargreaves were to play any part this season it would be more than a boost it would be something of a miracle and such as been the nature of his injury problems I’m almost scared to even mention the possibility of him affecting the title race.

There’s no doubt that when he’s fit Hargreaves is the closest United have to a complete midfielder, the problem is that it’s been so long since he played, there are even doubts about his confidence.

Many expected Hargreaves to make some appearances at the end of last season, but other than a 30 second cameo away at Sunderland, it wasn’t to be.

If by some miracle Hargreaves were to play any part in United’s season, then it would have to be an impressive effort to see his contract renewed which runs out in the Summer.

Since signing for United four years ago Hargreaves has made less than 40 appearances, let’s hope he can manage at least one more before the season is out.

News that Nani who’s been arguably United’s best player this season, is already back in training will come as a massive relief to United fans.

i think luck has not favoured Hargreaves and if he comes through this time, it’ll be like a new acquisition for United and benefit England as well

  2. Harawa says:

He will play soccer again. He will be much better than before. We pray for him.
