Could Cleverley be a future legend at United?

Could this man be the new strawberry blonde prince?

Following the retirement of Paul Scholes, a huge void has been left in the centre of Manchester United’s midfield, one that Scholes commanded for 17 years.

The likes of Wesley Sneijder and Luka Modric have been rumoured to be possibilities to fill this gap, but Sir Alex can take pleasure in the fact he has a team full of talented young players who will be eager to prove themselves to be worthy of a role in the first team, especially Tom Cleverley.

After a successful season on loan at Wigan, Cleverley looks set to return to Man United in order to help them in their efforts to bring back more silverware to Old Trafford in the upcoming years, and I for one think that he has the potential to be the man to pick up where Scholes brilliantly left off.

Cleverley has often been compared to Scholes, and offers a lot of the same credentials as the United legend, due to his ability to command the game with his excellent passing ability, and also his desire to get forward and score goals. The good form that Cleverley has displayed throughout the season has not gone unnoticed, as he has become a commanding figure in England’s attempts to win the Under 21 European Championships.

At 21 years old, Cleverley has the world at his feet, and has been tipped by many to be the man to replace Scholes, most notably by Wigan Athletic first team coach Graham Barrow, who believes Sir Alex should look no further than the United youngster when deciding who should be the one to replace Scholes. Cleverley responded to Barrow’s comments, and stated that he hopes to be a recurring figure in United’s team next season. “If I can fill a bit of the hole Scholes has left then that would be brilliant. I spoke to Sir Alex and he said he wants me in the team next season, and I am sure we will chat again over the summer about what his plans are for me.”

Cleverley played his last game for United during their pre-season tour of America last season, where he was met with rave reviews for the great performances he put in, which included scoring two goals during the tour. Cleverley expects to be part of United’s next trip to America once he returns from England duty, and again hopes to impress Sir Alex. “I will go on the tour of America in July, looking to make an impact and work my way into the United team. I’m just thinking about having a good season at United – but that has to start with a good summer first.”

One thing is for sure, whether it be this season, or in the seasons to come, Tom Cleverley will be an ever present in United’s team, and has the potential to go on to become one of the best players to grace United’s midfield in recent history.

Its clear by his performance at the u21’s that he is definitely not going to replace Scholes. He was good for Wigan last season but he lacks creativity and guile. But saying that he has the potential to make it at Old Trafford but just isnt a Scholes replacement.

ITS POSSIBLE AND THE FACT SCHOLES IS JOINING THE COACHING STAFF WILL ALSO HELP, SO SCHOLES CAN HAVE 1 TO 1’S WITH HIM AND TURN HIM IN TO A WORLD CLASS PLAYER, BUT IT SHOULDN’T STOP US FROM BUYING A CM I WOULDN’T EVEN CARE IF WE DIDN’T GET A DEFINSIVE MID, FLETCHER AND JONES COULD DO THAT, BE WE NEED A CREATOR

Make use of the Youth System use funds to bring in the most talented youth, groom them the united way and every so often a big signing. The youth are the future

ahahahaha is this artical a joke? Of corse hes not going to fill the hole, not even scholes could fill his own hole against Barcelona, we need a super star, aka Wesley Sneijder, and a good defencive mid to pair him with, Fletcher is known for unfortunate timming in the UEFA finals. BTW idk what U21 Championship this guy was watching, but Cleverley played bad

I strongly belive in a say that ‘an egg today becomes the cock tomorrow’. Lets give him a chance to prove himself as United gave Rafael n co. But d fact still remain that we need ball creator passing. Up united!

Tom Cleverley is a very nice player. A creator he is but because of his age, he lacks the experience needed to feel the ginger-prince’s boot. But the pre- season tour will help us to know whether he has the ability and capability to fill this void meant for midfield maestros. There is no too much harm in trying. So lets give him a try.

Scholes isn’t leaving that big a hole. IN the last four years he made only around 25 EPL appearances per season. I think Anderson will improve given a lengthy string of games int he first team. Utd’s biggest problem is their big squad and rotation policy makes it difficult for youngsters to get a run of games to help development and find consistency. Look at Nani. Once Ronaldo was gone and he got to play regularly he improved exponentially.

The Under 21 manager under utilized the potentials of Cleverly. For me the boy has to play in the middle and not out wide. Sir Alex please give the lad a chance.

Tom is a brilliant youngster; with enormous technical ability and an eye for goal. My major worry though is his inexperience and susceptibility to injury! For the first United team, he definitely needs time to mature and bed in well. But with the availability of other players in Giggs, Carrick, Anderson and Fletcher, (of course not forgetting Rooney’s tactical presence in the midfield once in a while)SAF will allow him transition time. And once he gets up on his feet, he will be unstoppable.

Cleverley is a fantastic young lad but putting him straight into our first eleven would be danger as he doesn’t hv much confidence & experience as we speak.I’ll rather hv him in first team n gradually introduce him into our team if I were Sir Alex.We need one CM and I feel Daniel of AS Roma won’t do any harm.
