Remember this face- it could be important

According to reports in the Mail United have signed youngster Nick Powell from Crewe Alexandra here’s an article I wrote about the midfielder a few months ago for a magazine.

League Two’s Crewe Alexandra has a well deserved reputation as being one of the leading clubs in British football when it comes to developing young talent.

Future England internationals David Platt, Rob Jones, Dean Ashton and Danny Murphy all served their football apprenticeship at Gresty Road, not to mention the likes of Robbie Savage and Neil Lennon.

So when Crewe Director of Football Dario Gradi – the man who oversaw the emergence of all the aforementioned stars- praises the club’s young midfielder Nick Powell, you know the player should have a very bright future ahead of him.

The 18 year old Powell has already amassed an impressive 55 appearances for the Railwaymen and can play across the midfield or in attack and is more than capable of beating defenders with his pace and close control.

Powell was named the Football League Young Player of the Month for January and has already attracted the attention of several Premier League clubs.

What’s even more refreshing about Powell is his willingness to improve and much has been made of his ability to keep advancing his already impressive array of talents, with his hunger and dedication to training.

With caps at under 16 and 17 level for England, several goals for the Crewe first team under his belt, not to mention recognition from his peers, there’s every reason to expect Powell to be plying his trade a lot higher than League Two next season.

Great signing to fill Pogba’s place, but how about some ready-made stars like Hazard (probably go to Shitty), Kagawa (better, bet)? Can’t have another season like this one, winning nothing, even Chelsea won CL.

Here we go again. Pogba is a diferent type of player not good to have lost him. Time will prove so.

  2. Andy says:

That all united knows how to do,filling the squad with english players, well hope he’s no just another one of those over-hyped english players.they are decent players around europe which will improve the team not necessarily means breaking the bank, fergie look towards african players and see the wonders.

  6. Kashere2011 says:

Is a welcome development for us but united should give him chance to further improve his talent, the kids in our disposal needs chance to prove themself, and old guards have block their development . United shall start given them the chance to showcase the talent. GGMU.

I’m just as keen to see who we move on. In my opinion Anderson needs to go

  8. Blue Tony says:

I have seen Powell play. He is strong and creative, a great prospect. At 18. He is not yet the real deal. Mancini wants him to serve at a feeder club for 3 years before stepping up a level to Champions status. Look after him for us.

Now that you’ve fluked it, you think you’re God’s gift. Why don’t you go and write on your own forums.

  9. ChrisW says:

It’s nice to be signing young talent but what we really need now is a couple more players who can help us win things next season, not in five years time. Hopefully those signings will happen in the next few weeks.

  10. Phila says:

I would like to see the French international M’Villa at OT,we lack vastly in that area.

POWELL is welcome coz he is young and promising
