Later today thousands will mourn, celebrate, worship and reflect upon the greatest manager in the history of football as he bids farewell to the home fans whose lives he’s made all the more better. There’s no doubt that gallons of tears will be shed, a few laughs may be had and vocal chords strained as the man who took us from 19th in Division One to all-time leading top flight winners, double champions league winners, sole English winners of ‘the treble, world champions and the most supported club on the planet says his final farewell at Old Trafford.

Tickets are rarer than a insightful Paul Merson comment so we can fully expect the bars surrounding the ground to be packed with equally as mournful Reds, in fact that pretty much goes for the whole of Manchester and beyond.

There’s the important matter of making sure that the great man goes out with a win so I fully expect a strong side to be fielded tomorrow, including a certain Ginger Prince who’s also making his final farewell.

Line up: David De Gea, Chris Smalling, Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra, Paul Scholes, Michael Carrick, Phil Jones, Antonio Valencia, Nani, RVP.
