The Thiago Alcantara deal- that’s quickly turning into a mini-saga of almost Wesley Sneijder-like proportions could be done and dusted by tomorrow with reports new United boss David Moyes could be announcing the Spanish midfielder’s arrival in his planned press conference.
The Express notes:
Thiago Alcantara’s proposed summer switch to Manchester United could be completed as soon as Friday, after the Premier League champions indicated the move had significantly progressed.
While the Spain Under-21 star had been stalling on a decision recently, David Moyes could be set to land the playmaker by the end of the week after United sources suggested the move was ‘very close’.
International broadcaster ESPN reports that the Red Devils believe their stumbling bid to sign the 22-year-old has performed a U-turn with the player now ready to leave Barcelona.
While one Old Trafford official described the Thiago saga as similar to the failed attempt to sign Holland star Wesley Sneijder in 2011, the Spaniard’s signature may yet be sealed in the coming days.
There is even hope that United will be able to announce the Barcelona youngster’s signing at Moyes’ first press conference as Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor – with the Scot having pressed for the club to bring in Thiago.
The Wesley Sneijder on/transfer has made me sceptical about United signing any player until it’s officially announced by the club, only when I see Thiago holding a shirt stood next to David Moyes, telling us its his ‘dream move’ will i allow myself to get excited, let’s just hope this who transfer doesn’t end up like the Dutchman’s,
