De Gea – Never looked in any trouble, and always comfortable when called upon. Love his confidence when distributing too. 6

Jones – Bit disappointing again. Rarely troubled at the back but pretty useless with the ball at his feet. Crosses and passes all seemed to hit Blue. 6

Ferdinand – Fantastic performance as he marshalled the team from defence. Always positioned well and calmly intercepted any dangers we faced. 8

Vidic – Another solid performance as Nemanja starts to look more like his true self pre-knee injury. One notably fantastic tackle to prevent an inevitable one-on-one a personal highlight. 8

Evra – Again, good defensively but lacking going forward. Offered no real treat and very rarely helped stretch play. 6

Valencia – Mixed performance for me. Showed glimpses of his old self as he took on their fullback but this happened few and far between. Crosses lacked accuracy too. Still some way to go before we see Antonio of old. 6

Cleverley – Shocked to see him play so deep again but even more shocked by how well he performed. Cautious, but necessarily so in his new role, he kept the ball moving and put a foot in when needed. Delighted for him. 9

Carrick – Said it last week but this new ‘box-to-box’ Carrick doesn’t cut it for me. He’s at his best when he’s deeper and has time to spread the ball across the pitch, but is instead is now seems to be losing the ball in the final third a lot. Still performed well defensively though. 6

Welbeck – Started very well early on with his one-touch play giving the Chelsea defenders a lot to think about. Eventually tired out and was subbed off. 7

Shrek – Made a decent cross-field pass and a defensive tackle. Man of the match stuff, that, if not for his numerous misplaced passes (71% passing completion), shoddy defensive display (1 tackle, 1/6 headers won) and poor crossing (1/4 successful). Bit too harsh? Tough. 6

Van Persie – Poor. Never really looked involved and hardly influenced the game as much as you’d like. Could point to supply from midfield but even then. 5

Subs:

Young – Did okay as he replaced Valencia. 6

Giggs – He’s now made as many Premier League appearances as Manchester City Football Club (422).

9 for Cleverly. Agree with most the others but 9 for the completely useless midfielder. We have a serious midfield problem and it stood out very clearly last night, Both Cleverly and Carrick i,m affraid are quite rubbish and need replacing.
