Saints' Star on Red's Radar?

Saints’ Star on Red’s Radar?

Tis the season to be jolly, tra-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la, lots of transfer rumour folly, tra-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la. With the January transfer window almost upon us, United fans now face the prospect of enduring one transfer story after another as everyone from journalists to ‘ITK’ tweeters suggest the latest name destined for Old Trafford. The newest addition to what will surely be a non-stop list of players certain to be wearing the Red of United next season is Southampton’s Adam Lallana. The England international is enjoying a superb season for the high-flying Saints and could be available at a price that David Moyes’ would be willing to pay.

The Star- hardly the bastion of journalistic integrity, admittedly- are running with the story on their back page that Moyes is ready to launch a bid for the 25 year-old. Lallana may not be the sort of big money signing that excites United fans, but should the Reds sign him, at the very least he’s an exciting player with experience of the Premier League that means he could go straight into the side. I’ve heard stranger transfer rumours, although personally I think United should be aiming a little higher.

Moyes is at least being honest, although there are high expectations of imminent signings he has already stated that players of the quality that United wish to acquire will more then likely be unavailable during the upcomming transfer window, this is simply a market reality.
The time for investing in the squad will be around mid 2014 when prices are not distorted by demand exceeding supply, between now and then Uniteds priority must be to ensure they are able to offer champions league football next season as a minimum to attract high profile players Moyse can achieve this with the squads depth and maybe a couple of lower profile signings, once next years CL place is secured the building can start.

Anything the Star writes is utter tosh. I gave up even reading their football stories over the summer and won’t be changing that decision. Dunno about the rest of the paper but the football section is basically a comic book full of made up stories.
