The Reds long term pursuit of Valencia’s Nicolas Otamendi seems to be nearing completion after the Spanish side left the defender out of their pre-season kit launch.

The Metro notes:

Nicolas Otamendi has been left out of Valencia’s pre-season kit launch amid talk that he is closing in on a transfer to Manchester United.

The Argentine has been linked with a move to Old Trafford throughout the transfer window, and is understood to be willing to go on strike to force the switch through.

And it appears that Valencia are now resigned to losing the 27-year-old after he was noticeably absent from a promotional shot for the Spanish club’s new kit.

Otamendi could be the final piece in the puzzle for Louis Van Gaal this Summer although there’s still rumours the Reds are in the hunt for another striker. If United do bag the defender then there’s no denying the Reds have made another step in the right direction during this Summer’s transfer window.

    This is a great news. Otamendi is considered a very dependable, brilliant defender. He will definitely strengthen the suspected defence. Whether Ramos joins MU, deal with Otamendi should be completed immediately to avoid any last minute hijack by competitors. MU must not allow competitors strengthen their defense at the cost the club.

    This obviously becoming another Morgan like protracted signing. He’s a proven quality, get the deal done and dusted Ed delay is dangerous. Otamendi is good for Utd
