Louis Van Gaal’s Summer transfer spending spree hasn’t finished yet with the latest reports indicating Lazio’s Lucas Biglia is on the Reds shopping list – with a £17.6 million bid already being submitted.
Not content with the acquisition of Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinsteiger the Reds boss has now cast his eye over one of Lazio’s finest.
The Metro notes:
Manchester United look to have moved a step closer to signing Lucas Biglia after he cast doubt over his Lazio future.
Louis van Gaal reportedly bid £17.6m for Biglia, despite the Argentinian midfielder having three years left on his deal at the Stadio Olimpico.
The 29-year-old joined Lazio in 2013, and was recently made captain of the Serie A outfit.
Spending nearly £18 million on a 29 year-old may seem excessive but it’s not that much in today’s financial climate where we see average players move at the highest level for around £10 million on an almost weekly basis. Biglia would give the United boss a whole host of options in the middle of the park which is almost the opposite of last season – where we saw Wayne Rooney having to drop deep when injuries hit.
Whether the Reds can get their man remains to be seen but if they do Biglia would bring class and experience to the United side.
