After a season where he silenced the doubters and was one of the Reds top performers, Ashley Young is set to be rewarded with a new three year contract.
The latest reports indicate Louis Van Gaal wants to keep one of his more consistent stars from last season, as the Daily Star notes:
Ashley Young has been offered a new three-year contract by Manchester United – with the option of a further year.
It would see the winger, 30, effectively end his top-flight career at United.
The terms are believed to be similar to his current £120k-a-week deal which has only a year to run.
The England international was a Tottenham target this summer and has also been linked with a move to Liverpool for £8million.
But Young now looks set to commit himself to Old Trafford.
Despite being criticised by most United fans during his time with the Reds, Young more than turned things around to become pivotal in the side’s march back into the top four. Although a player who hasn’t always dazzled being handed a new deal won’t be the exciting news many fans crave, it could prove to be one of LVG’s savvier moves this Summer.
