De Gea – How this boy isn’t rated by some fans still shocks me. What a class act. Pulled off ‘match-winning’ saves, one after the other. 9

Valencia – How many times have I said he’s too one dimensional? Collects the ball, runs to the corner and has his cross hit off the first man. Amateur. 3

Carrick – Poor boy just didn’t know how to cope with Fellaini today and we can’t blame him for it. His creativity was severely missed in midfield. 4

Vidic – Controlled the line well enough to make sure we only lost by the one goal. The sooner our defence gets fit again, the better. 5

Evra – Does he turn into superman during training sessions or something? How does he convince Sir Alex to play him when he performs like that. Can’t cross, can’t beat a man, and most worryingly, he can’t defend. 2

Nani- For someone asking for a new contract and a salary increase, he’s certainly helped Sir Alex knock a few quid off that deal. To help prove a point, he can start off learning how to take a corner. 2

Scholes – Our best player is nearly 40 year old. Make of that what you wish. 7

Cleverley – Good. Great, in fact, if you compare it to how everyone around him played. 6

Kagawa – Exciting, fast, agile. He seemed to play at a speed where none of the others could keep up. Looking forward to seeing more of him. 7

Welbeck – Big fan of his passing and link up play but none of that happened for him today. Looked slow and off-form. 4

Rooney – These Player Ratings aside, I’m actually a pretty mellow person when it comes to football. I don’t often get angry during a match, but the way Wayne played today, I was sat there screaming at the Tv crying for him to be subbed off.
If Wayne Rooney was a horse, he’d have been put down by now. 2

Subs:

Van Persie – First glimpse of the kid was promising. Played a wonderful reverse pass which should have seen him set up our other new boy, Kagawa, for the equaliser. 6

Young – Played various crosses to nobody in particular. 4

Anderson – Meh.

I don’t even know what system we played with Wellbeck on the left wing. We need a decent holding midfield player who can distribute/use the ball well. We also need to play 433 or 4231 away from home. I agree on your scores Scholes and Kagawa our best players.
Finally did you see the weight on Anderson? Glad he has had a good pre season lol

So funny, and yet so accurate, bang on target. What you need to add is the Manager’s rating. Surely his tactics is a big part how players perform.

  3. Kris says:

Totally agree with those ratings. Evra is an embarasment. Kagawa looked good, really sharp passing and unlucky not to score. Been looking forward to that match all summer. What an anti climax 🙁

I think you need time to calm down before doing these ratings. I we had a full defence we would have at least got a draw. Valencia one dimensional? he’s playing out of position but the still a F*^ck load better than Nani most games.

  5. RedCelt says:

The guy who did these ratings is an idiot. Did he even watch the match or did he base the ratings off the same old bs on the internet.

  6. Ferguson has won so much from installing passion and fight into his teams which is why we were runners up last year by only goal difference to a far superior set of players. He’s getting old now so this is harder to achieve. I respect him greatly but quite honestly tactically he is a fool. Why the hell have your best right winger (sorry mate but your comments on Valencia are plain ridiculous) at right back when you’ve got a right back on the bench?!! When he had Queroz we had better tactics & organisation. He now has a brain dead waste of space Mike Phelan. Kagawa looked superb. Rooney for me should be sold. Develop Welbeck & Hernandez with RVP & Berbatov or a new signing. He’s not interested. 1. He’s a scouser and 2. He WAS ready to sign for city, fact. Fuck him off while we can still get big dough for him, get rid of Anderson too he’s had enough chances & buy 2 world class centre midfielders.

I agree. Why did saf choose valencia over RAFAEL?

Seriously…..for loads of time I forgot Rooney was even playing. How many “world-class” players is it possible to say that about? Can he really still not get over the fact of Goodison Park? I just hate that no matter what, he gets his full 90 mins.

SAF is so convinced that Berba is for the rubbish heap and Hernandez doesn’t even make the bench so he can start a fat and listless Rooney and a confused Welbeck. Seriously, other than that Japanese guy I swear this could have been a game from last February. Except then we might have at least drawn it.

  7. Nate says:

RVP was on for 10 minutes yet was a bigger goal scoring threat than rooney, nani and young combined also im glad to see someone who has my same opinion on valencia

  8. ricmond says:

i agree with your rating. i think united can win the league if De Gea mankes these amazing saves, scholes and Kagawa makes complete passes and the 2R’s put the in the net.

this is the most spot-on rating article I have ever read. Most accurate is Mr Wayne Rooney 2/10. On many occassions I was looking around to see where in the world he was, completely out of position and doing his own thing. Evra- perhaps outperformed tenfold by Baines. Clev and Scholes were good in possession, but without the ball it was boys against 1 very big man. Kagawa was a class above EVERYONE else. If we played dortmund last year it would have been a humiliation of Barca/Bilbao proportions. SAF was forced into a corner by injuries, but chose an absolute shocker of a lineup.

How can u call Valencia one dimensional? He was one of our best players last season when fit and he was out of position tonight. Best winger at the club!!
