According to the latest reports there could be an impasse between Everton and United regarding Leighton Baines.
The Mirror notes:
United are unwilling to pay more than £12m for the defender who turns 29 in December and would have no great resale value.
New Toffees boss Roberto Martinez is adamant Everton do not want to sell and it is believed that Goodison chairman Bill Kenwright is only prepared to let him go for £18m.
Baines has not agitated for a move and sources close to the player say he is ready to accept a wage rise to extend a Goodison deal which has two years to run.
It may not be a popular opinion but personally I’d be quite happy if we didn’t sign Baines, as I still feel Patrice Evra is a better player and can do a job for us without costing a penny until Fabio comes through.

hey…everton fan here…i’d like to with no ego point out you are wrong…baines is much better than you think…he is an outstanding full back…bayern munich looked at & seriously considered him for two years…and again were put off by the asking price…been the best full back in the league for 3 years bar none…believe me
